"Pata Pata" is an Afro-pop dance song popularized internationally by South African singer Miriam Makeba. "Pata Pata" is credited to Makeba and Jerry Ragovoy. Meaning “touch touch” in the Xhosa language, “Pata Pata” was written by Grammy-winning singer Miriam Makeba who named it after a dance move popular in Johannesburg at the time. The 4 works in the series was prduced by Isabel Thompson over a number of years and captures the vibrant energy of the late 60's and 70's Sophia Town, Johannesburg dance halls.
